Do you remember the “Telephone Game“? We played it when we were children, intended to teach us how misinformation can unintentionally spread throughout a community network. While it can be amusing as a harmless game, the phenomenon can have devastating consequences.
I’ve seen the phenomenon take it’s toll on both trivial matters and important matters, especially when someone within the network intentionally[1] mis-characterizes the information. I’ve seen its destructive power within the work place, within families, and within the church. I’ve seen it destroy the reputations of people. I’ve even seen it used as a silent tool of excommunication.
You may agree or disagree with the topics presented on this weblog, but at least it gives you the opportunity to read them for yourself, comment on them, and make up your own mind instead of relying on gossip, rumor, and innuendo.
“For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
(John 3:20-21)
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
(Matthew 5:10-12)

[1] Bible history includes many martyrous deaths based on rumorous false information. A clear example includes Stephen (see Acts 6:10-14).
