Matt A. Reed (1892-1971)
Psalm 103:1-8π | |
Size: 22.4 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Reed_Matt-Unknown-1961-Unknown.mp3 |
Notes: Location unknown, sometime in 1961. Sermon highlights: Christ is here with us, where two or three are gathered in His name. You have read this history, where God was merciful and forgave David. Yet we doubt in our minds and hearts, even while God is still with us. Jesus appeared to his disciples after He arose to drive away those doubts. Thomas also had those doubts, until Jesus also appeared to him and blest both those that have seen and have not seen. I’ll keep on believing until my eyes are opened to see what I have believed. What’s easier to command and believe: that your sins are forgivenen or arise and walk. Children, don’t deny the blood of Christ. No one can walk in this life without sin attacking. David knew he deserved to die for his sins, yet was forgivenen by the savior. (That’s why he wrote this Psalm.) Stay young, don’t grow old spiritually, we must always be dependent in His care. There are those that left us in the Antichrist spirit that believe that man is unable to forgive sins. Luther marveled what a wonderful day it is when brother can say to his brother your sins are forgiven. Like a mother in the pains of birth, Christ bore His children in Gethsemane, and when he arose from the grave dismissed the pains for the love and joy of His reborn children. |
Alexander Besonen (1903-1962)
Ephesians 1π | |
Size: 29.4 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Besonen_Alex-Unknown-1961-1A.mp3 |
Notes: Sermon location and date undocumented, perhaps after Christmas day in 1961. Highlights: God’s Word stands forever, it must be full in us. Saving doctrine is so simple it is foolish to the world. He loved us first, reconciled the world for himself on the cross. No salvation except through his only begotten Son, his Christmas gift to us. He is the everlasting foundation, to unbelievers it’s a stumbling block. Believe His Word as it’s recorded, read it, it provides green pastures and living waters. Our names are written in the Book of Life. God accomplishes His will through believers. |
William J. Prusi (1912-1974)
2 Corinthians 6π | |
Size: 28.6 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Prusi_Bill-Waukegan-1968-Jul.mp3 |
Notes: Sermon in Waukegan, IL. July 1968. Highlights: Search scriptures “ye think” and encourged to read. Gospel was rock, not Peter. Sword must offend before it can correct. False decision religion of Billy Graham. Believe every Word. Don’t be unequally yoked. Reproach, rebuke, correct. Small remant remains, few churches understand. Why church – for social circles? World knows not right from wrong. Peculiar means separated for God’s chosen. |
Arvi N. Isaacs (1899-1973)

Notes: Sermon in Waukegan, IL. May 1969. Highlights: Focuses on entering into His rest. Notes Joshua/Jesus text translation differences. Rely on Jesus for everything. Recall Martin Luther. All State – we’re in good hands. Read his Word! Stay in the freedom from sin. |
William J. Prusi (1912-1974)
2 Corinthians 6π | |
Size: 31.2 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Prusi_Bill-Waukegan-1971-Sep.mp3 |
Notes: Sermon in Waukegan, IL. Sep. 1971. Highlights: Accused of preaching law, proclaims not to use liberty for sin. |
William J. Prusi (1912-1974)
Matthew 5:1-16π | |
Size: 26.0 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Prusi_Bill-Unknown-1971-Labor-Day-3A.mp3 |
Notes: Labor Day Services 1971, perhaps Black River, MI. Sermon highlights: We need constant reminders of God’s Word and He will be with us everyday. The Apostles were mouthpieces for God, they did not preach of their own accord. While our childish faith may be weak it is still assured, despite what the devil preaches. Our reward is not on earth. We are already in the promised land of faith, but we struggle daily. Like the tribe of Levi, we have no material gain. Jesus was tempted. The devil likes to deceive especially through religion, as Jesus warned. Jesus is so close that in faith we commune with Him every day. Others preach Christ that His name will be made known. If we are of Christ we must walk in his footsteps. God’s Word will try everyone’s work. Teach all nations. Wherever Scripture has been read only one foundation has been laid, those that hear are given a chance to abide therein or reject it. Blessed are the meek, hungry, etc. God’s Word can be like salt in a wound. Trying to hide His light is due to the weakness of the flesh, our prayer is that others will hear. Thanks for coming this weekend to the UP! |

Ephesians 1π | |
Size: 27.8 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Isaacs_Arvi-Waukegan-1971-Oct.mp3 |
Notes: Sermon in Waukegan, IL. Oct. 1971 |
Wilmer Takkunen (1908-1985)
1 John 3π | |
Size: 19.2 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Takkunen_Wilmer-Unknown-1970s-10AB.mp3 |
Notes: Sermon location and date undocumented, perhaps during 1970s. Highlights: Luther said when you read the Bible pray it will be revealed by the Spirit. Bible condemns those in unbelief. Believers are warmed and comforted by the Spirit and desire to hear the Word. We are born again, lead by the Spirit. Without God’s love we can not keep the commandments. Our battle of faith similar to Paul’s struggles. Those chosen hear God’s Word, we’re not left orphans. Those that look to the cross will live. Feed those who hunger. Devil draws us away. Anything more important than God’s Word is sin. (Last few minutes missing from tape.) |
Uuno A. Ropponen (1912-2002)
Hebrews 3π | |
Size: 28.1 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Ropponen_Uuno-Unknown-1970s-Labor-Day.mp3 |
Notes: Monday sermon during Labor Day Services. Location and date undocumented, perhaps during the 1970s. Highlights: Returning to sin ignores grace. Other church doctrines are lukewarm. Luther says we smile at the law, use it as a guide. Avoid being a doubting Thomas. Dangerous to leave, left or right. Christ the good Samaritan, enter into His rest. Luther says we are dead and risen as Lazarus. All are called to the wedding feast, even the hopeless. Luther says honoring the Word is greater than love. Don’t tempt God. Go with the full armor of God, according to the letter. Read the bible. |
Uuno A. Ropponen (1912-2002)
Philippians 3π | |
Size: 22.8 mb Format: MP3 Filename: Ropponen_Uuno-Unknown-1974-Dec.mp3 |
Notes: Location unknown, possibly Bill Prusi’s funeral in Dec. 1974. Sermon highlights: Hard to find a text in the Bible suitable to please man. (Devil’s bag is full of tricks, he’s the prince of the world.) Our minds do not want to accept whom God has sent. We must all have the same mind of Christ and follow the Word. Important not to add or subtract from the Word. Let His Word correct us, clear out the chaff, and it may need to sweep out His house on occasion. More signs in the world of the end times, but not concerned, we should be more concerned with what’s happening within His household. Keep following the Word when Dogs enter the household. The hard ground of our hearts must be broken before the seed may take root. Returning to sin knowingly leaves grace behind. We were not called to follow sin. Hang onto His Christmas gift of faith, keep it 365. Those in the priesthood have the keys to the kingdom. Our flesh was nailed to the cross with Him, whereby we were also resurrected, so be of good cheer! We can not trust man, we must trust God and pray to him for strength and forgiveness. Merry Christmas! |
